This guidance sets out the key principles of Safeguarding, and the responsibilities of teams and managers.
Guidance on Safeguarding
Staff in homelessness services often work with adults and/or children and young people who are vulnerable to abuse. It is the responsibility of each support worker and manager to recognise the signs of potential abuse and to take action if they suspect that someone is being abused.
These briefings set out key principles and responsibilities. Every organisation should have a local Safeguarding policy so that teams know how to respond to concerns about abuse.

Homelessness in itself does not make people vulnerable. However, circumstances such as homelessness may exacerbate other conditions and impact negatively upon individuals’ ability to care for and protect themselves.
