We are looking for highly motivated and committed individuals who have a genuine interest in working with and supporting people, to join our team providing housing support to ex-offenders on release from prison and in the community.

We provide a bed and support to more than 2,700 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and work to end homelessness and rebuild lives.

St Mungo’s Criminal Justice services, has been providing dedicated services to ex -offenders in custody and the community, since 1998.  We are looking for a member of new staff to expand our highly motivated, passionate and innovative team, working in prisons and the community across London. You will receive training and support to deliver high quality services, while developing your skills and gaining on going knowledge of the criminal justice system.

Specialist Housing Advisor - Prisons and Community

HMP Highdown, Surrey

The post-holder will provide housing information, advice, guidance and advocacy support to assist offenders in accessing accommodation and securing tenancies. You will also provide advice and support to ex-offenders to avoid accruing rent arrears and debt.

Your role will involve liaising with external agencies including Local Authorities.  Other responsibilities include delivering basic information around rights and entitlements to housing and benefits for offenders.

To succeed, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by ex-offenders on release and the support needs of people who are homeless/at risk of becoming homeless, and how to address these needs, providing positive outcomes.

You will have the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team, as well as the ability to form effective and professional relationships with external agencies.
