Aims and objectives
Homelessness is a complex problem, encompassing many factors, and attempting campaign on every front is unrealistic. Break the issue down and pick something specific to focus on:
- What is the particular problem in your area?
- What is the cause?
- Who does it affect?
- What do you want to change?
Having a set of clear ‘wants’ and ‘asks’ at the very beginning will help you target your work and ensure the right people and resources are utilised. It will also help you stay on track as the campaign progresses, identify clear milestones and achievements and give you a measure of how successful your campaign has been.
Make sure what you’re campaigning for is realistically achievable and sustainable; understand your target audience and the people who have the power to affect the change for which you are hoping.
Aim high and don’t be afraid to do something different and original. This will give your campaign credibility and capture attention.
